Environmental Responsibility

We act responsibly towards the environment, reduce our carbon footprint and support environmental projects.

Development of the MONETA's carbon footprint according to Scope 1, 2 and 3 in 2016 - 2024 (tCO2e)

We have been measuring our carbon footprint since 2016.
Note: In the years 2021 - 2024, emissions related to the commercial portfolio were included in the calculation.
Our goal is to reduce our Scope 1 and 2 carbon footprint by 90% compared to 2016 by the end of 2026.

Carbon footprint

Reducing our carbon footprint is a key activity in our environmental responsibility.
Sustainability Report

First steps

We have been measuring our carbon footprint since 2016. We were one of the first companies in the Czech Republic to start building our own fleet of electric vehicles, focusing on actively reducing emissions in Scope 1 and 2.

Development since 2016

In 2017, we set a target to reduce our carbon footprint by 35% by 2020. We have already achieved our target in 2018, thanks mainly to the EVs in our fleet, the purchase of green energy and other measures. We have continued to make reductions in subsequent years and overall we have already reduced our own carbon footprint in Scope 1 and 2 by 88.8%.

External verification and audit

The 2020 carbon footprint calculation was verified for the first time according to the international standard ISO 14064-1:2018. External verification was then carried out annually until 2024, when the carbon footprint was audited for the first time as part of the CSRD report.

The future

Our new ESG strategy already reflects the topics that are relevant to us under the new CSRD. In addition to reducing our own carbon footprint, we will continue to collect data in Scope 3, where we aim to set a target for the carbon footprint of the relevant part of our portfolio.

How we reduce our carbon footprint

Identifying the activities that contribute most to our carbon footprint has helped us to direct our focus and effort to where it really matters.

  • MONETA is a pioneer of corporate electromobility in the Czech Republic. We currently have 164 electric vehicles in our fleet, of which 37 VW ID.3 electric vehicles were purchased with the support of the Ministry of Industry and Trade's ‘Electromobility Guarantee’ programme. Electric vehicles thus make up 97% of our entire fleet and are one of the main means of reducing our carbon footprint.

  • We purchase electricity only from renewable sources. Both our headquarters in Prague and Ostrava, including our branches, run purely on green electricity.

  • Compared to 2016, we now use more than 10,000 m3 less water. We separate all waste and send it for recycling or environmentally friendly disposal, including 100% recycling of coffee capsules.
More detailed information on water consumption and waste management can be found in the Sustainability Report in chapter 7.3 Scope 3 Emissions.

  • More than 80% of our products and services are provided online. We try to reduce our paper consumption and if we have to use paper, it is recycled paper.
More detailed information on digitalisation and reduction of paper consumption can be found in the Sustainability Report in chapter 7.3 Scope 3 Emissions.

Responsibility of our suppliers

We care about our suppliers’ carbon footprint and their approach to sustainability. Our ESG questionnaire helps us find out about it. And since we believe it’s important to support local economy, almost 90% of our suppliers are local.

Eco-energy projects

We offer financing for construction or purchase of different types of eco power plants from biogas stations and photovoltaic systems to small hydroelectric or wind power plants.

Electromobility

We support purchase of electric cars by offering discounted interest rate. Our goal is to motivate our customers to make sustainable decisions while offering them advantageous conditions.
